The workshop…
The second full day workshop in Contact Improvisation which explores some of the fundamentals principles of the form with the dance developing from from these foundations.
The workshops will give an opportunity to dive more deeply into the practice of Contact Improvisation, and is applicable to, and will work equally well for people with varying levels of experience of the form.
We will work with different rolls; ways of falling and moving into and out of the floor with ease, and with a sense of how the body is always in relation to gravity; different ways of giving and taking weight; following a rolling point of contact; balance and counter-balance; “tuning” and listening exercises.
Charlie’s classes and workshops are practical explorations of movement and attention. They attempt to develop and tune kinesthetic and perceptual awareness as a means of expanding our experience and grasp of what is available to us when we move.
The classes are about listening in the body and applying that listening to the activity of moving.
These classes tap into the dancers inherent kinesthetic awareness, and provide structures that offer the dancers own physical intelligence and range an open ground for exploration and integration.
The class is a forum for a shared learning experience between participants and teacher.
