I’m a choreographer, performer, teacher, and curator/organiser. My work is about bringing people together to explore dance as an expanded creative approach to working and thinking physically.
I co-run Wainsgate Dances, an artist-led programme in a former chapel in Yorkshire. Together with other artists, I’m developing a space for people to meet, make, share and experience dance – and other things – ways of interacting, creating and exploring . I think of dance/movement as a way of approaching the world physically and creatively – bringing the different capacities of my body to ask questions about being in and engaging with the world.
It’s a practical and imaginative practice, embroiled in the mess, the unexpected, the unformed, and the queer.
Figuring… and not figuring things out by doing. I’m a pathological optimist – I believe in keeping on keeping on – in making things and putting them out in the world to be seen and felt and questioned
